Jesus took time to dwell among us

I've been trying to use our church's devotional material for the year, and we've just started reading passages from the gospel according to Mark.

Mark presents the immediacy/intensity of Jesus' ministry through the rhetorical device of multiple usages of the word "immediately" (as translated in the ESV). You can read a bit more about his authorial intention here: https://www.gotquestions.org/immediately-in-Mark.html

However, what stands out to me is the contrast between the intensity of Jesus' ministry which Mark highlights and the fact that Jesus took time to live among humanity and minister to them. He was born as a baby, grew up as an infant to child to teenager to adult, growing in wisdom and stature (see Luke 2:52 in context of Jesus' growth into maturity). When the demons declared his true identity as the Son of God, Jesus forbade them to speak further (see for example Mark 1:24, 32), rather than immediately looking to reveal his identity to the crowds.

And in this sense, Jesus did not come just to die for the sins of the world to reconcile men to God (though this was indeed his ultimate mission), but also to live, serve and minister among people so that they would experience the goodness of life with God.

Jesus, the Son of God and God himself, took time to dwell among the people he created, and indeed he fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy beyond what the people could imagine.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. — Isaiah 7:14 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel" (which means, God with us). — Matthew 1:18–23

Jesus, the Son of God took time to be with his people. He will continue to be with his people, those who put their trust in him. And he will return in the fullness of his glory to be with his people forevermore.
